Although this subdivision doesn’t have any green spaces of its own, it’s pretty close to some incredible parks in the area.
Whether you love the outdoors already or are looking to get back to nature, here are some of the top spots to check out.
This spacious park has over 11 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and nature-watching. You can spot over 300 native species of birds, mammals, and reptiles if you’re patient and know where to look.
You should also check out the Rocky Glen Waterfall, which is a perfect backdrop for a family photo. This park has:
- Hiking Trails
- Orienteering Course
- Dog Parks
- Fishing Waters
At 109 acres, Oldfield Oaks is another impressive park. However, this green space doesn’t have as many trails or amenities as Waterfall Glen.
That said, if you’re looking for a quiet and picturesque scene, you’ll find plenty here. This park has:
- Hiking Trails
- Off-Lease Dog Area
Unfortunately, there is no bike riding or horseback riding allowed in the park.
If you’re looking for a well-manicured city park, Falconridge is an excellent choice close to Farmingdale. Also, the park is almost eight acres, so you have lots of room to roam around.
Instead of exploring wilderness preserves, you can get some fresh air and sunshine while taking advantage of city-provided amenities, such as:
- Picnic Areas
- Soccer Field and Sports Areas

Woodridge IL Local Spotlight
Woodridge is actually much bigger than it seems, meaning that it has quite a few hidden gems. Since the city spans north and south (instead of east and west), you have to do some exploring to find these top spots.
One location we want to mention is Jameson’s Original Charhouse. Technically, this restaurant is part of a local chain, but since the original location is in Illinois, we’re counting it as a spotlight.
Since Jameson’s is a steakhouse, you can expect some fine dining that’s worthy of any celebration. So, if you’re having a birthday, wedding anniversary, or some other special occasion, make it a Jameson’s night.
In addition to having some incredible steaks, you can also find some scrumptious eats like:
- Macadamia Nut Crusted Tilapia
- Filet Mignon Beef Kabobs
- London Broil
- Prime Rib Sandwich
Overall, you have to be a meat lover to appreciate Jameson’s. However, the place does have some decent salads and vegetarian options.
